What is the Arc Universe? The Arc Universe is the combination of the ever-growing worlds within my stories. The base foundation of the universe surrounds the Three: Light, Dark, and Chaos. Each Element of Creation played its part in forming the universe as we know it. - Light provided life, light and divinity - Dark lent its hand in mortality, providing death, darkness, and shadow - Chaos provided uncertainty and played its hand in the seven deadly sins. It worked with Dark to create the evil that balances out the divinity created by Light. The Three are in balance, always seeking to keep one another from dominating the Cosmos.

What is the Cosmos? The Cosmos, or Cosmic Wheel, as many know it was the foundation of the known Universe. First, there was the Far Realm, the primordial soup of existence in which the Three worked to create sentient creatures to inhabit the worlds they would create. From the Far Realm, or Arcanium, as the inhabitants would eventually call it, the Three created the Cosmic Wheel. They created 16 planes from Positive (Holy) to Negative (Evil). The Cosmic wheel formed an ordered assembly of infinite planes and immortal creatures. All was in balance, where balance was tenuous, holy fought evil to maintain neutrality. It was beautiful; it was glorious; it was boring. Chaos wanted more from Creation, so it made the Elemental Planes: Fire, Earth, Water, and Air. Here Chaos was allowed to play with the elements and create creatures never seen before. The concentration of the elements gave Light the idea of creating the Prime Material Plane. The Material Plane would contain mortal creatures, which would allow the Three to witness how intelligent races would evolve — as the Immortal Races tend to stagnate and ceased to develop after a few generations. Mortality meant that even long-lived creatures could die of injury or sickness, making life precious. The Three made the Cosmic Wheel the Material Realm's afterlife, so that souls would not fully perish upon death. To maintain balance, Dark created the Shadowfell. A mirror of Light so that darkness could learn to evolve as well. Not to be left out, Chaos created the Feywild. The realm is full of wild magic, mystical creatures, mystery, and mischief. To keep one plane from mixing with the others, they created the Ethereal Plane. A Realm between the Material Plane and the Elemental Chaos of the Elemental Planes. The Three then created worlds within the Material Plane, seeding each civilization with various creatures of their creation. To oversea the solar bodies of the Material Plane Chaos assigned each Elemental Plane a mistress or overseer to watch over the worlds that would develop.

Who are the Elemental Sisters? The Overseers of the Material Ream, better known as the Elemental Sisters, have adopted humanoid forms to better interact with worlds. Earth - Amethyst Lily resembles an albino Fae with porcelain skin. Fueled by pure arcane magic, her eyes, hair, wings and other features are purple. Amethyst controls earth, crystals and arcane elements. Fire - Ignis Ember resembles a Salamander. Half fire snake, half humanoid, she rules over the City of Brass. Much like her realm, Ignis is destructive and is often seen as cruel or evil. Air - Akadi, the Queen of Air, resembles an Avariel Elf, often mistaken as one of the Sledarine (The Elven Gods). Akadi is wild, unpredictable, and embodies the virtues of Chaos. Water - Aquana/Tefnut is a Nereid, an Aquatic Fae. She commands Tritons, Nymphs and Mermaids.

What world does the story play out in?My world is a modern-day near-Earth that features an active magical society that hides alongside everyday, mundane life. I approach issues such as gender identity, queer society, global warming, pollution, industrialization and over-farming. Magic has influenced the world slightly. My world has suffered less large-scale plagues, and healers hide within the medical profession. As specialists, they slowly heal some current major illnesses we see in our lives today. Magic can’t cure everything, sadly. Some genetic illnesses aren’t curable by any means. Magic society polices itself, removing those who would abuse their abilities from society. Sanctum is magical society’s solution to lessen its influence on the world. Magical society still holds a Pagan belief system. They still believe in the Gods, and Gaia worship plays a huge role in nature casters. They revere the Earth mother above all others for Fae, Druids and, therefore, Elves. While Christianity does play some role in the Western World, it is more prominent in Europe than in North America. Native tribes were not as suppressed in the Arc Universe. While not restricted to reserves, there is still racial tension, as we see in modern day. To make travel take less time, I’ve been working with a small portion of the continent. I’ve reduced distances a fair bit, sadly a lot of current coastal cities we know are underwater because of global warming. So far, most cities and locations are purely fictional. While I’ll refer to real-life cities and locations, they’ll rarely show up in my books.

What are Elves like in the Arc Universe? The Elves form several racial groups in the Arch Universe: Tirian High Elves The islands of the Tir nan Nòg were off the west coast of Ireland. They bore weather-hardy pale-skin Elves whose hair colour ranges from platinum to various shades of blond. Their eye colour ranges from grey to blue to green. Tirian Elves are nature casters and tend to the Druidic ways and worshipped Gaia. Tirians don't feel the cold very much, and are very lightweight, being able to walk through forests without leaving a trace, they can jump higher, efficiently climb trees, and even walk on snow. The Tir sank through a magical ritual to keep Romans from pillaging the islands. Atlantean High Elves Atlantis was in the Mediterranean Sea. Just off the coast of Greece, Atlantean Elves have olive skin. Their eye colour varies in hues of brown and green, with hair colour ranging from brown to black. Atlantis held the door to Tartarus and worshiped the Elven and Greek pantheon, as did their neighbouring Humans. Atlantean Elves discovered arcane magic and had amazing mechanical devices. Atlantis sunk from a subsurface quake, thousands of years ago. Some of their people escaped to live among other Elves. They brought with them their arcane abilities, seafaring skills, and beliefs of the other gods. Drow Drow have dark skin like you see of African Human. Ranging from brown to an almost blue-black skin colour, their eyes range from yellow to white. Their Darkvision lends them to have a sensitivity to sunlight. Occasionally there are albino drow born with pale skin and pink eyes. They have two beliefs: The subsurface dwellers follow the Elven pantheon more than other Elves do. They are masters of Arcane and Shadow magic, the first to have discovered Warlock abilities by aligning with a demon pact. They live deep underground in cave systems and are generally seen as evil due to their religious beliefs. Surface Drow, often called Moon Elves, follow the various goddesses of the moon. Masters of Light and Shadow, they are powerful healers, following a High Priestess and a Druidic order. Moon Elves often live in hard to reach mountain regions. Their isolationist nature leaves them to almost fearfully dislike other races, including other Elves. The exception is a close tie with Tirian Druids as they see the Earth Mother's children as cousins. Wood Elves As Humans eventually intermarried with Elves, they would create mixed blooded offspring. Out of respect that some of these Humans were of noble blood, Elvenkind does not call them Half-Elves, Low-Born or other less desirable names. They named them Wood Elves, as these offspring were wanderers. They were woodsmen, seafarers, and diplomats. Wood Elves were expert rangers, soldiers, and heavier-set than their High Elven ancestors.

What is Sanctum? The Arcane Sanctum, or Sanctum for short, is a pocket dimension within the Elemental Chaos that surrounds the Elemental Planes. When the Roman Empire pushed Elvinkind into exile, the remaining magical community fell into disarray. Unable to find peace due to religious differences, rather than a cohesive Pagan society, the arcane warred upon itself. They soon developed schools of good and evil magic. When Christianity set upon destroying all sources of magic through the Crusades and Inquisition, magical society needed a place they could call a refuge. Unable to follow the Elves into the afterlife, having forgotten the Cosmic Wheel, they fled to the closest realms outside the Material Plane. It did not bode well for them. Shadowfell was too dangerous. The Feywild was too unpredictable. They pleaded with the Elemental Sisters to give them a home of their own to live in peace. The Elements created Sanctum. In creating their realm, they reconnected with the greater Cosmos. Elves offered them guidance, as they did in the past, and the magical community found relative peace. Sadly, humanity is still a young race. Ambition fueled by emotion and greed can sometimes ruin the best of intentions. The peace would not last.

The Seelie CourtsWe divide nature Fae/Fairies/Fey into Seasonal Courts. The good-aligned courts are called the Seelie Courts. Traditionally, the Seelie Courts work in harmony to preserve the seasons. - The Winter Court manages the wind currents and cold, bringing snow down from the arctic to give the northern hemisphere winter. Winter Fae are identified by their pale skin, platinum to blond hair, near transparent gossamer wings, and they feel cool to the touch. - The Spring Court works with nature. They help seed plants, encourage new growth, and spur animals to reproduce. Spring Fae tend to have tanned or olive skin, making them look Latino or African. They have butterfly-like wings. You can tell which group or family they come from by the colour and pattern. - The Summer Court controls the warm air and tends to nature. They help keep things green by moving the air currents so that it rains enough to keep things green, and tend to animals if they are hurt, sick or injured. Summer Court Fae wings often look like flowers are sprouting from their backs. It's so they can hide in flower patches. The exception is the royal family, which resembles various insects. - The Fall Court deal with harvest and storms. They guide plants to mature and will help farms keep their crops from failing before picking. They help seasonal animals migrate or find places to hibernate. Fall Fae are dark-skinned, so that they can blend into the woods. They have fall-coloured leaves for wings. Currently, they are in discord, with the Winter and Summer Courts at odds, while the Spring and Fall Courts are waiting to see who wins. The discord between the courts is making global warming worse, as drought, forest fires and heatwaves are out of control.

MECHA - Mechanically Enabled Cybernetically Harmoneous AscendedThe Mecha are an ascended race of beings composed of pure energy. They are generally, teal in colour, though their energy varies in hues of blue. In order to interact with and manipulate the physical world, they have created mechanical bodies. Their energy becomes the power source, though there is a backup if needed. Having discovered a magical mercurial substance they call Living Metal. The Mecha can form and shape metal, much like magic can form and shape wood or stone. Mechanical bodies are typically humanoid. They vary in shape and size to suit their needs, with drones being a form of pet. The spherical-shaped drones can be programmed and run as semi-sentient constructs — though other shapes exist. Drones are workers, designed to perform various mundane tasks; from minor maintenance, to observation, to message delivery, to security.

The GridThe Grid is a subspace plane of existence the Mecha call home. It is everything to them: life, information, communication, and storage. All that the Mecha are or have discovered can be located in the Grid. Devices are designed to access different layers of the Grid to give organization to the depth of knowledge it contains. The ascended have created vast physical and electronic data libraries scattered around the Cosmos to serve as backups in case anything goes wrong. No one knows how old the Mecha are. They keep that secret to themselves. They are as old as they are young seeing as other races have ascended since and joined them. They don’t really reproduce. New Mecha are ‘born’ usually by helping a mortal ascend or occasionally combining enough data to make an AI or Sprite sentient.
